Our Responsibility

A sustainable today for a better tomorrow

At Corruseal, we see sustainability in three dimensions: the environment, society and the economy. We take this wider view to ensure that we have a positive impact on all facets of the world around us. It is a view which differentiates us from other packaging companies, and which benefits us, our clients and the environment.

Our new look and feel represents a paradigm shift in our businesses. The new direction of our group is on producing “Better Packaging for a Better World”. By achieving this, we will be responsible and positive contributors to our society, our environment and our economy.

Message from the CEO's

Welcome to Corruseal’s website.

Our new look and feel represents a paradigm shift in our businesses. The new direction of our group is on producing “Better Packaging for a Better World”. By achieving this, we will be responsible and positive contributors to our society, our environment and our economy.

In society, we believe that simply chasing profit is not sustainable. Our communities, and society around us, need to thrive as well. With a healthy and vibrant society, comes business growth. And it is our responsibility to make this happen.

In the environment, we made a decision to be more sustainable. What started as tracking key usages has now turned into an organisational mantra. We drive improvement in key inputs in our business which includes water, fossil fuel usage, electricity and starch. To date, we have seen great improvements and we, and our entire team, are immensely excited by the potential difference our company can make in helping make the world greener.

In the economy, we create jobs and opportunities for South Africans. We continuously grow our footprint and, with our recent entry into the Western Cape with Prima Box, we are excited about new possibilities. Our operations coupled with strategic international partnerships will continue leading to significant investments in human capital, new plants and machinery.

Take a look below at some of our key contributions to society, the environment and the economy. They will give you a clear understanding of our more meaningful achievements.

And remember, excellence is not a destination - but a journey. We hope you join us.

Yours truly,

Mehul Mehta and Rajiv Mehta
Joint CEO’s, Corruseal

Environment

We have 5 primary indicators on sustainability. To improve our environmental impact, we strive to lower these costs per product shipped. The indicators include: Water usage, Starch usage, Electricity usage, Maximum demand usage and Fossil fuel usage

We have achieved great successes at our various facilities:

  • Water usage has dropped by over 25%
  • Maximum demand for electricity has dropped by 15%
  • Fossil fuel usage has dropped by 8%

With many more initiatives underway, we ultimately strive to have a positive impact upon our planet.

Economy

Having grown and contributed to the South African economy for over 40 years, we are well positioned to continue to positively impact the future of packaging in South Africa. We will achieve this through capital investment and the creation of manufacturing jobs.

Key successes have included:

  • R650 million of capital expenditure on manufacturing sites across South Africa in the past 15 years.
  • Over 500 jobs created in the past 10 years.
  • Proud BBEEE level 2 contributor.

Society

Successful businesses need to be surrounded by healthy and thriving communities. This is needed for long term sustainability of our economy, growth and job creation. It is our belief that upliftment of our communities through initiatives in health care, education and society will contribute to healthier communities.

Our Corporate Social Initiatives have included:

  • Active involvement in Oliver's Village. This Not-For-Profit sustainable village focuses on early childhood development, community development and education. We are proud to be part of this on both a board and operational level.
  • Key participation in Operation Smile South Africa. This charity provides free surgeries to repair cleft lip, cleft palate and other facial deformities for children around the globe. We contribute to the organisation through board representation, active involvement in various missions and fund raising activities.
  • Donations to Rainbow Trust, Habitat for Humanity and several other social organisations. These contributions created new homes for families in need as well as helped various organisations in their social missions.
